Swimming Pool Exemption

Apply for an exemption from safety barrier requirements.
Last updated on: 08 April 2026
If you believe that complying with the current swimming pool safety barrier standards is impracticable or unreasonable, or you have a safe alternative that works just as effective, you may be eligible to apply for an exemption.
If you're unsure whether an exemption applies to your situation, contact us on 4974 2000 or speak with a registered Certifier before applying. This can help you understand whether an exemption is likely to be suitable.
