Apply for a Pension Concession on Your Rates
Eligible ratepayers are entitled to a $250 rebate on their annual rates and charges. Eligibility for this concession is based on an income and assets test.
You may qualify for a pension concession if:
- you hold a Pensioner Concession Card
- you have a gold card with the "TPI" (Totally Permanently Incapacitated) stamp
- you have a gold card with the "EDA" (Extreme Disablement Adjustment) stamp
- you are a war widow, widower, or wholly dependent partner who is entitled to the Pensioner Concession Card
- you're a war widow, widower, or wholly dependent partner without a Pensioner Concession Card. Contact the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) to check eligibility for the DVA income support supplement
- holders of other types of cards are not eligible for this concession.

Next steps
- You'll receive an acknowledgement with your request number.
- If your application is approved, a pension concession deduction will be noted on your next rates notice.
- If your application is unsuccessful, we will contact you to discuss the reasons why.
- If you are eligible, you can receive a discount of $250 per year ($62.50 per quarter). While the total discount amount appears only on the first instalment notice, it is applied quarterly throughout the year.
- We will send you a notification once your request is complete.
We conduct eligibility checks throughout the year to ensure your pension status remains active and continues to be applied to your account. Please note that changes to your circumstances may affect your eligibility or rebate amount.
Time frames
- We typically take 1-2 weeks to assess your application, and you will see the adjustment on your next rates instalment.
- If you apply for a pension rebate after receiving your rates notice, you can request an updated rates notice once the adjustments have been applied to your account.
