Section 10.7 Planning Certificate

Whether you're buying or developing a property, it's essential to understand any planning controls or potential hazards that may impact the land. A Section 10.7 Planning Certificate provides detailed information about the zoning, planning restrictions, and other limitations that apply to a specific parcel of land.
This information is crucial in determining how the land can be used or developed.

Accessing zoning and planning information

  • You can find basic planning information in a Section 10.7 Certificate.
  • You may also use the NSW Planning Portal Spatial Viewer to view zoning maps.
  • Maps under the Newcastle Local Environmental Plan 2012 including zoning, floor space ratios, building heights, heritage, and acid sulfate soils are available for download in PDF format from the NSW Planning Portal.
  • The LEP 2012 includes both the planning instrument and associated maps. Once you identify the zoning for a property, refer to the Land Use Table in the instrument for more details about what is permitted in that zone.
