A dog attack is defined as a dog rushing at, attacking, biting, harassing or chasing any person or animal (other than vermin), whether or not any injury is caused to the person or animal.

Raise a request

Before you begin

Please upload any supporting evidence of the incident, such as:
  • photos of the attacking dog
  • photos of any injuries sustained to any person or animal
  • vet report detailing any injuries
  • doctor's report detailing any injuries.

Next steps

  1. You'll receive an acknowledgement with your request number.
  2. Our Rangers will attend and investigate as soon as possible. A thorough investigation may take several weeks, as this allows us time to collect evidence and review witness statements.
  3. Formal action may be taken, including a fine or a notice to declare a dog menacing, or dangerous, which comes with strict owner conditions.
  4. In the case of serious incidents our rangers can seize a dog from their owner.
  5. Once your request has been completed, you will receive a notification.

Time frames

  • If a dog is still at large and not contained, a Ranger will respond as soon as possible.
  • If the dog is contained, a Ranger will investigate within 14 days.
