  • Dogs must be on a leash and under effective control in all public places, except in designated off-leash areas approved by City of Newcastle.
  • You can find a full list of off-leash locations on our website under Leash Free Areas.
  • Help us maintain safety by reporting unleashed dogs in public places. This allows us to take appropriate actions, such as increasing patrols or adding signage.

Raise a request

Before you begin

  • Ensure you provide as much detail as possible about the dog and any patterns of unleashed activity. This can help us target our patrols effectively.
  • When lodging your request, you will have the option to attach photos or other supporting documents.

Next steps

  1. You'll receive an acknowledgement with your request number.
  2. Our Rangers will respond promptly. If the dog is no longer in the area or is leashed upon our arrival, we will patrol the area at random times in the future. Fines may be issued to dog owners not appropriately restraining their dogs.
  3. Once your request has been completed, you will receive a notification.
