Road Signs & Line Marking Maintenance

Over time, road signs and lines can fade or become damaged and require repair or replacement.

Road signs

We can inspect and repair or replace traffic, parking, directional and street signs. We are committed to ensuring that our road signs remain clear, visible, and well-maintained. This not only helps road users abide by traffic rules but also enhances their ability to navigate the city safely.

Line marking

Line marking plays a crucial role in regulating and managing traffic. Clear markings indicate lanes, directions, and boundaries, contributing to a more organised and efficient flow of vehicles. Proper line marking also enhances safety for both drivers and pedestrians by providing clear crossings.

Managed by Transport for NSW

Transport for NSW are responsible for managing certain traffic and sign infrastructure, this includes
  • Traffic light signals - operation and maintenance.
  • Large green roadside signs, commonly found on major roads and may include intersection or special direction signs.
  • Signs on State Roads.

Related articles

  • New Traffic Infrastructure - request new road signs or traffic signals.
  • Illegal Signage - report signage erected potentially without consent or impedes vision for pedestrians and road users.
  • Driveway Line Marking - request painted lines either side of the driveway to indicate to motorists to park behind the driveway line.

Raise a request

Before you begin

When lodging your request, you will have the option to attach photos or other supporting documents.

Location matters!

Providing specific details about the location of the sign or line marking helps us identify and address it quickly. Please include cross streets, house numbers, or identifying landmarks.

Next steps

  1. You'll receive an acknowledgement with your request number.
  2. General street signs (e.g. stop signs, give way, no parking etc) are created in batches so we have them on hand. The location and type of the sign will be assessed and prioritised for repair or replacement accordingly.
  3. Street name signs are made to order so take a bit longer to install.
  4. Once your request has been completed, you will receive a notification.

Time frames

Repairs are conducted depending on the location and urgency but typically within 6 weeks. Signs relating to safety, such as Stop and Giveway signs are prioritised.
