Public Swimming Pool and Spa Notification

If you operate a public swimming pool or spa, you are legally required to notify City of Newcastle by submitting this notification form.
  • Using a public pool without submitting this form is an offence under the Public Health Act 2010.
  • This notification is specifically related to water quality and public health.
  • It is separate from any requirements under the Swimming Pools Act 1992, which relates to safety features like fencing and barriers.

Application fees

There are no fees payable when you submit your application. We'll invoice you after your application and preferences have been reviewed. If you'd like a fee estimate before applying, search for the application name in our Fees and Charges document.

  • Your account makes it easy to submit applications and requests, track their progress, view outcomes, and make payments all in one place.

Next steps

  1. Shortly after submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming we've received it, along with an invoice for the application fees.
  2. We'll review your application and let you know if your pool or spa is compliant or if further action is required.
  3. If action is required, City of Newcastle will contact you to arrange an inspection.
  4. You'll receive the inspection outcome by email:
  5. Compliant - A certificate will be issued.
  6. Non-compliant - We'll outline rectification steps and arrange a follow-up inspection.

Time frames

Inspections typically take place 7 days after you submit your application.
