Application Tracker - Service Upgrade

We're upgrading our Application Tracker to improve how you view and follow your applications online.

As part of this upgrade, there will temporarily be two Application Trackers, selecting the right one will depend on when your application or amendment was lodged or determined.

Applications lodged or determined after 28 January 2026

If your application or amendment was lodged or determined after 28 January 2026, you can track it using our Application Tracker.

Application Tracker allows you to:

search for recent applications
view decisions and key details
access records.

All other applications

For older applications, including applications lodged and/or determined before 28 January 2026, visit our Historical Application Tracker.

The Historical Application Tracker allows you to:

search for older applications
view decisions and key details
access historical records.

Explore development activity

The Application Tracker provides public access to development activity and fire safety schedules across the Local Government Area. Using the interactive map, you can search by address or application number, view documents, apply filters, and provide feedback on applications currently on public exhibition.

Applications recorded on the Tracker

Applications available on the Application Tracker include:

Development Applications (DAs), including Modifications (MAs) and Requests for Reviews (REs)
Complying Development Certificates (CDs)
Subdivision Certificates (SCs) and Subdivision Works Certificates (SWs)
Construction Certificates (CCs), Principal Certifier Applications (PCs) and Occupcation Certificates (OCs)
Planning Proposals (PPs)
Fire Safety Certificates (FSs)

Development Applications (DAs) submitted after 18 December 2017 include key documents such as the original application, public submissions, and any determination issued.

This information is provided to help you track the progress of an application and understand major milestones in the process. Please note that it may not represent the full history of the application.

Not available on Application Tracker

Not all development proposals are submitted to City of Newcastle for consideration, some are required to be submitted to the Department of Planning for assessment. Those applications include:

State Significant Development (SSD)
State Significant Infrastructure (SSI)
Transitional Major Projects (former Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) (now repealed but some existing applications under this assessment regime)
Modifications to approvals of the above.

How to search and use the Tracker

Navigating the map

You can zoom in and out, drag the map across Newcastle, or share your location to view nearby properties.

These tools are easily accessible in the bottom-right corner of the map, just use your mouse or touch gestures on a smartphone or tablet.

Using the search bar or filters

You can enter an address or application number in the search bar, the map will display an ariel view of the property and any associated applications.

You can also use the filter tool to apply specific search criteria.

Purpose of information - The documents and data available on this site are provided to help track the progress of development applications. They show key milestones but may not represent the full history of an application.
Application coverage - Not all development applications for a property may appear in the Tracker. For example, older applications not stored in our current electronic database will not be listed.
Property details - The Tracker lists the properties where an application is proposed. The land description is the land valued by the Valuer General on that property. It does not always equate to the Lot and DP, the application is proposed on, these details are located within the application itself.
Limitations of property records - The Tracker may show all applications linked to a property, but it cannot be relied upon to display applications involving subdivisions, land consolidations, multiple lots, or land not valued by the Valuer General.
