Tree Planting
Tree Planting
Public trees are a vital part of City of Newcastle's urban forest.
Street trees
You can request a tree be planted on your property verge if there isn't one already or if there is space for more than one. We will determine the appropriate tree species, alignment and spacing for your verge and street in order to maintain the continuity of existing streetscapes.
Trees in public spaces
You can request a tree to be planted in a nearby public space. We will choose the most suitable species for the area to ensure it thrives and enhances the environment.
Whole street planting
Whole street planting projects involve a detailed consultation process, which can begin up to two years before planting.
As part of this process:
- residents are advised of the intended planting season for the nominated year
- a letterbox notification is delivered around two weeks before planting
