Change of Existing Street Numbering

You can request a change to your street or unit number in certain situations, most commonly when your property has more than one street frontage or is located on a corner block.

We will consider

If there are genuine difficulties in locating your property, such as:
  • confusing or unclear access points
  • inconsistent numbering in your area
  • safety concerns for emergency services, utility providers or deliveries.

We will not consider

Changes based on:
  • personal preference
  • religious or cultural beliefs
  • superstition or avoidance of certain numbers
  • potential impact on property value.

Application fees

There are no fees payable when you submit your application. We'll invoice you after your application and preferences have been reviewed.

Email it to us

  • Enter the address of the property and the type of application (i.e. Addressing Application) in the subject line of the email.
  • Documents forming part of the application that exceed 10MB, are to be stored in a 'drop box' account and a 'public link' created to the documents. Copy the link and share that link in your email.
  • Emails are to be sent to addressing@ncc.nsw.gov.au

Next steps

  1. Shortly after submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming we've received it, along with an invoice for the application fees.
  2. Once your application has been assessed, you'll receive an Addressing Allocation document confirming the outcome.
  3. If we approve a change to your street or unit number, you'll need to ensure the new number is clearly displayed at your property. Please note that this will be your responsibility and any costs involved will be at your own expense.
  4. We will notify major utilities of the change, such as Australia Post, Telstra, NSW Land & Property, Australian Electoral Commission.

Time frames

We typically process this application within a week; however complex applications can take longer.
